Michael at the Waterpump, water-soluble oils on gessoed paper, 11 1/16″ x 15 1/16″, 2001. Intellectual property of Dawna Morton. All rights reserved. Do not copy in any form. At a scenic campsite in the forested hills surrounding Oakridge, Oregon, a child and his mother discover the joy of an old-fashioned red water pump after feasting on huckleberries. Poised in mid-stroke of the pump the mother’s figure is bathed half in sunlight and half in dappled shadow with a sense of continuing motion. As the crystal clear mountain water cascades from the spout Michael washed the huckleberry stains from his tiny fingers in joy and wonderment. Surrounding this nostalgic scene is an array of pacific northwest foliage and trees rendered in impressionistic strokes.
I recently created many product on zazzle.com featuring this nostalgic painting. Here is one of several fridge magnets which would make a great inexpensive mother’s day gift or just an everyday expression of appreciation.
Also available is this clear frosted glass mug, perfect for anything frosty cold or piping hot. See your drink peeking through photos, images, or text designs. Dishwasher and microwave safe. Imported. This design is also available on other mug styles, colors, and sizes. Feel free to customize the text with your own unique message for your mom or other loved one.
Here is the default message I have designed on the left hand side of the mug. It says “Sometimes the simple things bring the greatest joy… Happy Mother’s Day to a great mom!” I think it’s a pretty great message, but you may like something else better. So if you’d like to change the inscription for someone besides your mom and have it say happy mother’s day to a wonderful grandma, or aunt, of wife or even change it so it is for another occasion like the birth of a child or something else, go ahead…

I also designed this bumper sticker as a souvenir for those of us who love to the beautiful small town of Oakridge, Oregon–or it can be customized for another small rural town of your choosing 😉
on the inside the card reads:
“sometimes the simple things bring the most joy…
thanks for all the special moments filled with magic and wonder!”
Next is this earth friendly, economical, and stylish reusable shopping bag featuring my painting. It is also customizable and available in other colors and styles.
Below are two stamps featuring Michael at the Waterpump. You can mail that special note or card with class and style…
