On Memorial day when I took the kids for a walk down to the local park to play, I got these beautiful pictures of a bird in a bush. It took a while to figure out where exactly the tweeting was coming from, and then some patient bird stalking to get close enough to get these, but they turned out lovely. Although it was fairly easy to learn that the bird was a white crested sparrow, it took more searching than usual to discover that the bush with its clusters of blue blossoms is a blue blossom Ceanothus Thyrsiflorus bush which is native to California.

A few years ago I got some spectacular photos of a Great Blue Heron while on a family outing at Trojan. This past week I decided to use this shot of the large bird swooping over the water with its wings outstretched to their full span and its feet trailing behind to create some new items on zazzle.

One of many projects I have been working on this week is to use my photo, bird in a winter tree, to create a series of products on Zazzle.com
A bird ( perhaps a robin?) perches on a snow covered apple tree limb surveying the frozen apples hanging like ornaments on a Christmas tree in the December snowstorm.

This week I used a photo I took last winter to create some Items for Christmas and other occasions on zazzle. It is of a little rustic wooden birdhouse my son made when he was in cub scouts that was hanging from the limb of a barren apple tree in our back yard , covered in freshly fallen snow.

A bird, possibly an american robin, perches on a snow covered apple tree snacking on frozen apples during December. Hanging from the tree like golden Christmas ornaments, the apples seem to frame the bird like a bowl or scoop.

Double Crested Cormorant #1
These photos were taken at Trojan pond this summer. At first I thought this was a duck. It does look a little like one in the small viewfinder on my camera LOL . However as I prepared to post these pictures for sale, I realized that it was a type of bird I was unfamiliar with.
It took me quite a bit of time to figure out what it was. I tried looking up all sort of different waterfowl on wikipedia with no luck. Finally I decided to check out the website for the Audubon society, which led me to the web page of their Lincoln City, Oregon chapter where there was a section on birds that are likely to bee seen in Oregon. When I was the image of double crested cormorants there, I thought that might be what I had photographed. After looking them up on Wikipedia to see more photos, I was sure.
I love how wistful this double crested cormorant looks standing all alone on the log above his reflection. He seems to be pondering his lonesomeness and looking for a friend as he gazes into the distance. In reality, if you zoom in close, he appears to be munching on something 😉 . Perhaps this is just his favorite fishing spot.
