Woman’s Autumnal Twilight Serenade , watercolor on paper, 2012 by Dawna Morton~see it framed
A country girl in a white dress and cowboy hat pauses to listen to the sound of the wind before continuing to fiddle a serenade. Autumn leaves fall peacefully downward through the dark, but tranquil forest in the background, as their silently drifting shapes create an air of magical wonder —glowing in the light in their downwards spiral towards the forest floor. As the wind flutters her dress and her hair, it also picks up the notes of her music from her inward ear, and carries them afar to the world.
Wrapped in the arms of His love, pencil on paper, 2009, by Dawna Morton. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
In the center of this line drawing is a heart with the Christmas star centered above it and piercing downward into it. Then moving around clockwise like a Mandela three little stars seem to dance in with joy in the night sky with the desire to follow the wise men to Bethlehem. The three wise men and their camels curve around the heart , hugging it closely on their journey to see the newborn king. Even one of the camels cannot contain his joy has as with a merry face he saunters jauntily along. Beyond the caravan a shepherd kneels with his sheep in adoration of the Christ Child. The infant Jesus smiles in his sleep in the manger as Joseph lovingly supports a weary, but joyful, Mary on his shoulder. Moving upward around the second half of the heart, the composition then moves through some of the important events of Christ’s life. We see the sea of Galilee where the apostles on their ship watch in awe as Christ walks toward them on the water. Next we follow a path past the house where the bedridden man is let down through the roof so that Jesus can heal him. The road continues on towards the mount where the multitude listens to Him teaching the Beatitudes. Next is a portrayal Him pleading with his Father in the Garden of Gethsemane. Beyond the Cross the Resurrected Lord is met by Mary at the tomb.

marriage of Titania; Salmon berry floral duet digital art/photo manipulation, 2011, by Dawna Morton ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ~see it framed
At first glance, this is just a nice picture of some flowers with an interesting textured background, framed with a bit of modern art flair; however, there is more to it than meets the eye when examined in more depth…
Half hidden behind the five petaled purple Pacific Northwest salmon berry blossom, the face of Titania as a bride glows with love as she gazes adoringly up at the visage of Oberon. The overlapping purple, green, and golden toned rectangles symbolize both unity and discord in the couple’s future as the begin with varying success to mesh and meld their lives and hearts together from separate planes of existence, as well as symbolizing the various interlinked plots within Shakespeare’s play, “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” abstract shapes and textures in the brushed gold tones of the background further call to mind characters and whet the imagination with scenes and ideas from the play, foreshadowing the events f their future life.
Nick Bottom appears to sing or bray like a donkey below one petal, while the faint shapes of a donkey of horse head are formed in the upper right. On the left Helena, in a floral hat, wakes the sleeping Lysander. Another figure along the top appears to write in a book, representing the playwright at work while other shadowy figures emerge among the golden raindrops which splash a sense of magic and wonder across the dreamy scene. As the drops of water land on the blossoms the stretch forth their petals towards each other with love and yearning, reminding us of the flowers used to make the love potion which caused so much turmoil in the lives of the characters, even though they found happiness in the end.

Determination of young Amelia Earhart by Dawna Morton ~see it framed
Inspired by Amelia Earhart, a young female aviator stares down anyone or any situation that might challenge her abilities–daring them to tell her she can’t accomplish her goals. Clouds, or smoke may billow and threaten to envelop her, the wind may storm and blow, but she will face them with grit and determination… she WILL overcome.

In the twilight, abstracted silhouettes of trees shapes, back-lit with pink and lavender fog, create images of tree nymphs. A dryad sits atop the tree canopy holding a fairy in her hand. The wood nymphs and the sky spirit look on as she opens her heart and offers her love as a gift to her creator. Glowing with light, her love ascends, circling up through the misty clouds and beyond the moon like smoke of incense from an altar.

. Missionaries sing a song of joy and redemption. Wandering sheep. . are sought in the desert. As they are found, they enter the way, beginning to feel joy. Those who are filled with HIS love feel compelled to sing joyfully.
UPDATE:
“SING Redeeming Love!” has been entered in the 8th International Art Competition sponsored by the Museum of Church History and Art. The theme for the competition this year is “Remembering the Great Things of God,”and according to their website,”artists are encouraged to create works of art reflecting the theme and title of the exhibition…This theme is drawn from scriptures that teach the importance of acknowledging and remembering God’s works, promises, and covenants to His children. Artists can depict—but are not limited to—ideas, stories, people, places, doctrines, beliefs, scriptures, teachings, historical events, religious values, and Church, family, and individual experiences in Latter-day Saint life.”
In SING Redeeming Love, Missionaries sing a song of joy, love, and redemption as they seek to find wandering sheep in the desert. As lost sheep are found, they begin to feel joy as they enter the way. Those who remember the great mercy of the Savior for them are filled with the love of Christ, feeling compelled to sing redeeming love with joy that cannot be contained. They desire to share the Gospel of Christ with everyone, that they might also be filled with joy through the Redemption and love of Christ.
This also refers Alma 5:9, 26; 26:13 and is a reminder and an invitation to feel to”’sing the song of redeeming love’ and mean it as much now as in any past year and as much tomorrow as today!” (Spencer W. Kimball, “‘The Uttermost Parts of the Earth’,” Ensign, Jul 1979, 2).
