One of the places locally we like to go for family outings is during the summer is the pond at the now defunct Trojan Nuclear facility. There are lots of walking paths, wildlife, picnic tables, restrooms, fishing and a little picturesque bridge. One day last July We managed to get there pretty early in the day, and the light was just beautiful.
One of the birds I like to keep an eye out for while I am there are Great Blue Herons. During our walk that morning I was able to successfully stalk and photograph one.
Great Blue Heron in the trees by Trojan pond by Dawna Morton ~see it framed
A great blue heron sits perched high up in a tree overlooking the pond on a summer morning at the Trojan nuclear facility.
I had never seen one perched up in the trees before.
