During December, after a snowfall, I went hiking down the hill towards Fox Creek to get some pictures of the snow covered forest. This one had a great ethereal feel to it at thumbnail size, but it lost much of the effect when seen at full resolution. So I tried opening it up with Picassa3 and using several of the editing tools to adjust the lighting soften the edges and add a little glow to it.
A cold winters day hike through the snow towards Fox Creek in Rainier, Oregon reveals a pale blue winter sky seen through a stand of trees near the edge of a forest glade on the bottom of a sloping hill. Still attached to twigs and brambles autumn leaves appear golden in the sun like trail markers bordering a snowy path zig zagging across the hills an into the distance.

A digitally altered photo of a snowy sunlit forest glade covered in brambles at the bottom of a steep hill in picturesque Rainier, Oregon. The winter sky glows through the forest canopy in a golden haze of sunlit mist, causing the trees to fade off into the distance.
