beautiful Columbia River sunset

On the last evening before the beginning of the school year I took the kids to the local park down by the Columbia River for one last evening of carefree fun and frolicking. We stayed so late we were there to enjoy the sunset, and the sky was lit up a pretty shade of pink behind the Lewis and Clark Bridge. As I walked closer to the river to get some good pictures of the sunset, I noticed these little clumps of either light pink or white wildflowers growing in the sand near the banks. It was difficult to get a good picture of them in the twilight, but these two turned out pretty well.

A large crane used fr loading and unloading cargo from large ships in the industrial area of Longview, Washington along the banks of the Columbia River sits silent and still in the twilight, as the city lights reflect beautifully in the water.
